Computer Literacy Training for Teachers
We offer a customised course for teachers designed to train them in basic computer literacy skills using an e-lesson as a foundation. As teachers are trained in the different Microsoft Office applications, they will also be creating and sourcing material that can immediately be used for teaching and learning.
Planning for Technology
Many schools have a variety of technologies that can be integrated into daily teaching. In many cases, these technologies are under-utilised or not utilised at all. Upon investigation, we discovered that teachers who do not use available technology do not always know how to plan for technology in their lessons.
In this course, using a step-by-step method, teachers will be taught how to effectively plan an e-lesson.
PowerPoint for Teaching
There is an increasing drive by education departments and schools to place technology in the classroom. Laptops, data projectors and interactive whiteboards lend themselves to the use of PowerPoint for lesson presentation. However, many teachers lack the skill to effectively use this tool. Many teachers use PowerPoint just to do presentations instead of using it as an integral part of teaching a lesson. There are also instances where it is over used, causing learners to get bored.
In this course, educators will be trained in how to plan for PowerPoint in a lesson, and will be shown advanced PowerPoint skills and specialised PowerPoint teaching techniques.
Excel for School Administration
Excel is an excellent application to use for the completion of administrative tasks that contain calculations. A proper understanding of this application can assist teachers with classroom administration.
This customised course for teachers will equip them with the necessary skills to create mark sheets, marks schedules, summery recording sheets and to link these for convenience.
Teachers will also be trained in how to create electronic tests. They will, for example, be shown that, once a template for a test has been created, new questions can easily be added for quick assessments.
Internet in the Classroom
The internet is a rich source for information that can be used effectively for research by teachers and learners. There are also many resources available on the internet that can be used to enhance lessons.
In this course educators will be trained on teaching strategies to integrate the internet into their lessons in an effective manner.
Support Services
Curriculum Integration Support (Facilitation)
Once teachers have acquired the necessary ICT skills to teach, our experience is that they find it difficult to implement those skills in the classroom. This can be attributed to a lack of confidence.
Kenako provides its clients with a service to support teachers in the classroom. Our experienced facilitators will assist teachers in the classroom until they are sufficiently confident and competent to teach with technology on their own.
Sustainability Planning and Support
The sustainability of a school's investment in information and communication technology is crucially important for continued growth and optimal learning.
Kenako offers a service through which school's management teams are coached on how to approach and plan for ICT so that its sustainability is ensured. This usually takes the form of a comprehensive workshop.
Kenako will also assist schools to ensure that the necessary ICT management structures are in place to ensure sustainability. This includes the drafting of Financial, Technical and Curriculum Sustainability Plans, and guidance in the implementation thereof.
